Why is health care reform NBCC’s #1 priority?

NBCC Supports America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009
In a letter to the Speaker of House, Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), NBCC President Fran Visco today announced the organization’s support for HR 3200, America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 as we work to ensure that we have language in the bill that would require that a significant number of educated consumers be included on all boards, commissions, panels that are making decisions that will affect our health care. Read the letter... 

Fran Visco Offers Dissenting Viewpoint in New York Times Article
Fran Visco, when asked about the recent nomination of Dr. Francis S. Collins as head of the National Institutes of Health (N.I.H.), raised questions about the appointment.  In the article, Pick to Lead Health Agency Draws Praise and Some Concern, in the July 8th edition of the New York Times, Ms. Visco stated, “The N.I.H. needs visionary leadership willing to challenge the present stagnation at the institute.  It may be difficult for Francis, since he has been a part of the system.”  Read the full article or learn more about NBCC’s Framework for health care reform.
