For International Users On-Site

I have never visited Fermilab before, and I do not have Fermilab computing privileges.

Before arriving at Fermilab
  1. Apply for computing privileges for off-site user.  By doing this you will have a Fermilab Visitor ID number assigned to you.
  2. Complete the Environmental Safety and Health (ES&H) Online Training. To do this, you first must obtain a Fermilab ID number to do so. Fermilab ID numbers are issued during the process of obtaining computing privileges, so if you have done Step #1, you should have this ID number.  The ES&H training must be completed before site access is permitted.
  3. Obtain proof of medical insurance. You must have medical insurance that provides coverage in the U.S. You may use the medical insurance that your institution provides, or your own private medical insurance coverage. If you need to purchase medical insurance you will need to so before you can obtain a Fermilab ID badge.
  4. Educate yourself about Fermilab and the surrounding area Local Resources and Info. Information on different subjects such as housing, banks, driving privileges, car rental, and life in the U.S. is available.
  5. Complete and sign the Application for Fermilab Visitor ID Badge.  Please note that if you complete Step #1 and obtain computing privileges first, the experiment spokesperson or supervisor does NOT need to sign the Application form.

    5. Proof of Insurance/ Medical Attestation Form

    • The Users Office will confirm that you have taken and passed the ES&H Training.  If you have not taken it, you must do so before being issued your Fermilab Visitor ID Badge.
    • The User’s Office will issue paperwork to you that you then must take to the Key&ID Office on the Ground Floor of Wilson Hall, where your photograph will be taken, and your Visitor ID Badge issued.
