Ninichuk Named Deputy Director of the Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives

ALEXANDRIA, Va. (April 18, 2012) – National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board Chairman Debbie Matz today announced the appointment of Martha J. Ninichuk as Deputy Director of the Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives (OSCUI). Ninichuk assumes her new duties April 22.

“Martha’s selection as OSCUI’s deputy director solidifies an outstanding leadership team,” said Chairman Matz. “Her mix of small credit union management and broad credit union field work is ideal for this hands-on position. Martha’s wide range of experiences, from running a small credit union in Michigan, to consulting for two state leagues, to international credit union development projects, will also bring fresh perspectives to OSCUI’s work.”

Ninichuk joins NCUA from her position as Director of Cooperative Initiatives for the Michigan Credit Union League, where she and her team helped credit unions provide innovative financial products and services to underserved and low-income populations. In working for the Maryland and DC Credit Union Association as Vice President of Consulting and Credit Union Services, Ninichuk again teamed with small credit unions to help them address governance issues and product development. Ninichuk previously ran St. Cletus Credit Union in Warren, Mich.

Ninichuk is a graduate of Michigan State University. She has additionally taken NCUA examiner training, as well as USAID regulatory compliance training in Cairo.

NCUA is the independent federal agency created by the U.S. Congress to regulate, charter and supervise federal credit unions. With the backing of the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government, NCUA operates and manages the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, insuring the deposits of more than 93 million account holders in all federal credit unions and the overwhelming majority of state-chartered credit unions.
