The Advisory Group of the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP) has approved the National Victim Assistance Academy (NVAA), Track 1 Foundation-Level Training for use in obtaining NACP Provisional Advocate Credentialing.

To apply for the NACP Provisional Advocate Credentialing, using your experience at the NVAA, Track 1 Foundation-Level Training, you must:

  • Complete the NVAA Pre-assignments.
  • Attend the entire Track 1, Foundation-Level Training.
  • Complete specific modules from the Victim Assistance Training Online (VAT Online). This Web-based training combines core information and basic skills victim service providers need to effectively and sensitively assist victims of crime. To access VAT Online, please go to https://www.ovcttac.gov/vatonline.
VAT Online contains seven modules. For NACP certification, you must complete the following material from TWO of the modules:
 
--Overview and 4 of the topics under Issues: Specific Populations
1. Children Ages 0-12 20 - 45 minutes
2. Persons with Disabilities 20 – 30 minutes
3. Elderly 20 – 30 minutes
4. Immigrants 20 – 30 minutes
5. Teens 25 – 45 minutes
6. Mental Health 20 minutes
7. Substance Abuse 25 – 30 minutes
8. Helping Clients with
Traumatic Experiences
30 – 45 minutes
 
4 topics = approximately 80 minutes (1 hour, 20 minutes)
 
--Overview and 12 topics under Crimes
1. Child Abuse 30 minutes
2. Domestic Violence 30 – 60 minutes
3. Drunk Driving 30 – 45 minutes
4. Elder Abuse 30 minutes
5. Financial Crimes 35 – 45 minutes
6. Hate and Bias 30 minutes
7. Homicide 60 minutes
8. Human Trafficking 30 – 45 minutes
9. Identity Theft 30 – 40 minutes
10. Property Crimes 30 – 45 minutes
11. Sexual Violence 30 – 45 minutes
12. Stalking 35 – 50 minutes
13. Teen Relationship Abuse 45 – 60 minutes
14. Terrorism 30 – 45 minutes
 
12 topics = approximately 395 minutes (6 hours, 35 minutes)
