Technical Assistance Program (TAP)

Idaho National Laboratory's Technical Assistance Program (TAP) is a federally-mandated program that authorizes INL to provide knowledge and specialized equipment to be used for promoting U.S. competitiveness. Through the program, laboratory scientists and engineers can provide assistance, which is not normally available to a community or small business, without fees. The U.S. Department of Energy has allocated limited funding for this support activity and provides policy guidance directing the screening and selection of projects.

TAP offers highly skilled experts and laboratory resources to the region. During the past five years, INL has supported more than 130 projects in the region with technical expertise.

TAP is designed to:

• Provide assistance that is not commercially available in the region.
• Support with up to 40 hours without charge to the recipient.
• Provide only technical support (not certification or recommendations).
• Assist technology-based businesses in overcoming difficult barriers in order to advance these enterprises for business retention, expansion or creation.
