Since the creation of DLA Office of Inspector General in early 2011, the audit and investigative divisions have changed drastically. DLA’s auditors are now routinely focusing on the high risk areas, investigators are doing more than criminal investigations and the DLA Office of Inspector General is sought after to participate in high priority areas across DLA. In addition, DLA Office of Inspector General auditors and investigators have demonstrated what can be accomplished when they work together as a team, using their complementary skill sets to find the facts needed.
DLA Office of Inspector General has worked hard to build strong relationships and partnerships internally and externally. Our success in this area is evident by the joint efforts we have completed with external investigative and audit organizations. We know our partners and we strive to help them when we can, share information regularly and ensure we are using resources across the government wisely. Internally, we have built our processes to share what we can, as soon as we can with DLA leadership. We have become involved in various workgroups and provided advisory services.
DLA Office of Inspector General’s job is to help DLA make informed decisions so it can use its resources effectively and efficiently. We provide impartial and unbiased results to Senior Leaders. DLA has a critical mission, supporting the Nation’s warfighters. Based on past successes and the evolving global economic and political environment, even more will be asked of DLA in the coming months and years. DLA Office of Inspector General will be key to helping DLA ensure economies and efficiencies in DLA’s processes to continue to meet the mission under decreased funding.
