LILESVILLE, NC – Rep. Larry Kissell (NC-08) met with Hornwood, Inc. President Chuck Horne while visiting the facility last week. Horne showcased some of the company's products, including fabric used to line our military’s combat boots, while the pair discussed the importance of protecting domestic manufacturing.
Hornwood, Inc. is a service-oriented manufacturer that specializes in warping, knitting, dyeing, finishing and face finishing. These services provide the desired fabric for many markets, from military outfitting to medical equipment.
“It was great to be back at Hornwood, seeing their important innovations that help outfit our military,” said Kissell. “It is absolutely necessary that we keep our military outfitted with the most innovative and well made products, and I was proud to see these materials being produced right here in North Carolina. I have always fought for the protection of our domestic manufacturers and will continue to be a voice for those like Hornwood who deliver exceptional American-made services to American businesses and military personnel. ”
Horne thanked Kissell for his steadfast commitment to protecting domestic manufacturing.
“I enjoyed the visit,” said Horne. “I thank the Congressman for his efforts on behalf of American manufacturing and specifically the textile industry. We talked at length about the potential sequestration on the defense budget and how that will impact us with our military products, and I appreciate all that Congressman Kissell does to protect industries like Hornwood.”
Kissell voted against the sequestration plan and the severe military cuts contained in the bill.
