Summary Data
These PDF files show a wind data analysis summary based on all of the data collected over the period the anemometer has been in operation.
In general, adjustments for site air density, power curves, hub height projections, and estimated energy production must be performed by using the raw data provided.
Raw Data
The data are provided in two different file formats. The binary files contain the data as recorded from the instruments. The comma delimited files are suitable for importing into a spreadsheet such as Excel.
These files contain the data points that comprise the input to the summary data file(s) above. It is important to note that some of these data points may have been omitted from the summary data because they were determined to be in error. (A typical error occurs when an anemometer ices up.)
File Naming Convention
The data files are named using a convention to identify the site, the recording period start date, and the format of the data.
In general, the data files have names in the following format:
siteID/mm/dd/./dataformat/yy
(/'s are separators added for clarification)
siteID is a name or serveral numbers that identify the site where the data was recorded
mm is a two-digit number indicating the month the recording period started
dd is a two-digit number indicating the day the recording period started
dataformat is a single character that will identify the data format (since the two different file types are now in separate directories, this field still exists but can be ignored)
yy is a two-digit number indicating the year the recording period started
For example, the file with the name "00001128.n01" contains data for site 0000 that was recorded beginning on November 28, 2001.
