HUD to Donate Excess Equipment
The Birmingham Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is donating  the following equipment below:

32  -  Desktop Optiplex GX 520 computers
22  -  Latitude D610 Laptop Computers
1 -  Optiplex GX 620 Desktop Computer
2 -  HP Laser Jet 2200d Printers
1 -  HP Laser Jet 4000N Printer
4 -  HP Laser Jet 4100 Printers
1 - Dell 1500 Printer
1 -  Xerox F12 Fax Machine

In accordance with Executive Order 12999 entitled "(c) ''Educationally useful Federal equipment’’ means computers and related peripheral tools (e.g., printers, modems, routers, and servers), including telecommunications and research equipment, that are appropriate for use in prekindergarten, elementary, middle, or secondary school education. It shall also include computer software, where the transfer of licenses is permitted.

The Birmingham HUD Office will give the highest priority to elementary/secondary educational institutions; community based educational organizations and eligible non-profit organizations.

Requests for computer equipment must be in writing and accompanied by a statement of need.  Requests must also identify the quantity needed.  All non-profits, including churches will be required to submit a copy of their 501( c ) (3) IRS ruling as well as their by laws showing that their primary mission focus is education. 

Requests must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2011 and mailed to Gale Harris, Administrative Officer, Birmingham HUD Office, 950 22nd Street North, Suite 900, Birmingham, AL 35203. All requests will be acknowledged no later than January 31, 2012.
