Colonel Robert C. Knutson

Colonel Robert C. Knutson graduated from Xavier University in Cincinnati with a bachelor of arts in political science and was commissioned in the Armor Corps. He is a graduate of the Armor Officer Basic and Advanced Courses, the Canadian Land Forces Command and General Staff College, the Army Command and General Staff College, the Joint and Combined Warfighting School and the U.S. Army War College. He holds master's degrees in public administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, Mo., and strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College.
Colonel Knutson's early assignments include Platoon Leader, Adjutant, and Company Executive Officer in the 3rd Battalion, 64th Armor, Schweinfurt, West Germany; Assistant S-1, Protocol Officer, Aide-de-Camp, in the 5th Infantry Division; Commander, C Company, 4th Battalion, 35th Armor, later reflagged to C Company, 3rd Battalion, 66th Armor, 2nd Armored Division. Staff assignments included Company/Team Armor and TOW Observer Controller. Automation assignments include Chief, Systems Group, Center for Strategic Leadership, U.S. Army War College; Chief, CIO Operations and Support Branch, J-6, U.S. Transportation Command; Chief, Operations and Network Defense Branch, J-6, U.S. Strategic Command; and Chief, Shared Systems Branch, U.S. Army Human Resources Command. Operational Assignments include Stability and Training Team Chief, 1st Brigade, 1st Armored Division, supporting Kirkuk Province, Iraq.
