This page will provide users with current and up to date information as it relates to Retirement and Separation for Active Component Soldiers. Our branch is responsible for processing Active Component Enlisted retirement and separation actions. Our goal is to ensure that actions are processed in a timely manner and that Soldier's desired retirement date coincides with mission requirements.

Commander, HRC - Fort Knox (AHRC-EPF-M) is the approval authority for SSG (promotable) and above retirements. Approval authority for SSG (non-promotable) and below retirements is the local General Court Martial Convening Authority (GCMCA), (refer to AR 635-200, Chapter 12, paragraph 12-2). Additionally, as an exception to policy, the GCMCA is the approval authority for all ranks regards of when request is submitted when retirement is at Soldiers Retention Control Point (RCP) (refer to AR 601-280, Chapter 3, Table 3-1). Soldiers should be aware that retirement at RCP is not automatic and must be requested by the Soldier. Failure to submit a request for retirement could result in Soldier being dropped from the system upon reaching their RCP.

The Assistant Secretary of the Army (Manpower & Reserve Affairs) is the approval authority for involuntary separation of all Soldiers with 18 or more years of Active Federal Service.
