What is Podcasting?

A Podcast is a digitally recorded audio or video file that can be downloaded onto computers or portable listening devices such as iPods or other MP3 players. Podcasts allow users to subscribe to a feed of new audio files using 'pod catching" software (a type of aggregator), which checks for and downloads new audio files automatically. Any digital audio player or computer with audio-playing software can play Podcasts. Users can also download Podcasts to their desktop computers and play them using standard media software.

How do I listen to a Podcast?

Individual Podcasts can be downloaded and listened to in two ways:

  • Podcasts can be downloaded and watched or listened to individually using any commercial audio/video player directly from the Fatherhood website, by clicking on the appropriate "View the Video" or "Listen to the Audio" link. In addition, corresponding transcripts of each Podcast will be posted alongside each Podcast application.
  • Podcasts can be watched or listened to using commercial Podcasting applications available for download.
