Fireworks Prohibited Year-round on Public Lands

Warm summer temperatures and winds can spread a fire.  Fire restrictions are being implemented in parts of Arizona to lessen the chance of human-caused wildfires.  Please be EXTRA careful with fire and check on current restrictions before heading to your favorite BLM spot. 

BE CAREFUL with fire year-round. And  remember Fireworks are not allowed on BLM Public Lands at any time!!

Arizona Strip District

Effective Friday, August 22, 2012, at 12:01 a.m., fire and smoking restrictions have been lifted on BLM-administered lands within the Arizona Strip District in Coconino and Mohave counties.

Phoenix District Office (Hassayampa and Lower Sonoran Field Offices)

Effective Friday, July 20, 2012, at 8:00 a.m. fire and smoking restrictions are lifted on public lands in south-central and central Arizona.

Kingman Field Office

Effective Friday, August 3, 2012, at 6:00 a.m. fire and smoking restrictions have been lifted on public lands within the BLM Kingman Field Office boundaries.  

Lake Havasu Field Office

Effective Friday, August 3, 2012, at 6:00 a.m.fire and smoking restrictions have been downgraded on public lands within the BLM Lake Havasu Field Office boundaries.  The following restrictions remain:

  1. Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire or campfire.  Campfires and charcoal grills are only permitted in developed recreation sites or imporved sites, where agency-built fire rings or grills are provided.  The use of petroleum-fueled stoves, lanterns, or heating devices are allowed on allowed on public lands provided such devices meet the fire underwriter’s specifications for safety.
  2. Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or recreational vehicle.  Smoking is restricted to an enclosed vehicle or recreational vehicle on a paved or improved roads, or while stopped in an area at least six feet in diameter that is cleared or barren of all flammable material.
  3. Using fireworks, flares or other incendiary device (including explosive targets); is always prohibited on public lands.
  4. Welding, or the use of any torch or any metal cutting implement remains prohibited.

Yuma Field Office

Effective Friday, August 3, 2012, at 6:00 a.m. fire and smoking restrictions have been downgraded on public lands within the BLM Yuma Field Office boundaries.  The following restrictions remain:

  1.
