Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) is a DoD Field Activity responsible for the oversight of two school systems, the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS) and the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary & Secondary Schools (DDESS).  DoDEA employs more than 12,000 individuals responsible for educating approximately 90,000 students in 12 foreign countries, seven states, Guam, and Puerto Rico.  The mission of DoDEA is to provide a quality education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve for the eligible minor family members of DoD military and civilian personnel on official assignments.

Serves as lead monitor, overseeing monitors who perform lunchroom, recess and bus monitoring duties in a DoDEA school, ensuring the safety and welfare of students. The monitor identifies and reports known or suspected problems, issues or concerns to the appropriate staff or faculty member. The lead monitor develops and maintains shift schedules, assigns work and instructs employees in performance of their tasks; provides on-the job training instructions and deals with student behavior and discipline issues. Assembles students at designated points and monitors movement and behavior through corridors, at the cafeteria, recess or play areas. Also monitors dismissal as students leave class and go to school buses or parent’s cars. Monitors recess areas. Performs bus monitoring duties where applicable and assures students safely enter and exit buses, and are placed on the correct buses.

In order to receive consideration for this position, applicants must describe 6 months of any training or experience to lead other subordinates by providing instructions, and to deal objectively and harmoniously with them.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Substitution of Education for Experience:
One year of education beyond high school from an accredited institution.


 


CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
All candidates must be U.S. Citizens and reside within the local commuting area where the position is located. Local commuting area is defined as the geographic area surrounding a work site that encompasses the localities where people live and reasonably can be expected to travel back and forth daily to work based on the generally held expectations of the local community. (5 CFR 575.203)

Selectee must undergo Background Checks IAW DoDI 1402.5 (e.g. Local Files Check, State Criminal History Records Check, and National Agency Check Inquiries). Employment in these positions is subject to successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet/maintain these requirements may be grounds for termination.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

Qualified candidates will be referred for employment consideration in accordance with governing laws, regulations, and procedures. Based on information submitted with each application, DoDDS Human Resources staff will determine each applicant’s status (internal or external candidate), employment qualifications, eligibility determination for Military Spouse Preference, Family Member Preference, NAFI Agreement, and VEOA, and geographical availability. The VEOA and VRA apply only for permanent appointments. Non-Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) U.S. citizens may be considered for full-time appointments ONLY.

The numeric rating you receive is based on your responses to the questionnaire. The score is a measure of the degree to which your background matches the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. LIVING QUARTERS ALLOWANCE (LQA) AND PAYMENT OF TRAVEL AND TRANSPORTATION ARE NOT AUTHORIZED.

Locality Pay: Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area. Locality rates of pay in CONUS will not be used for pay setting when transferring to an overseas/foreign area.
Family member appointments will expire based on the sponsor's rotation date. Family member appointments may not exceed two months after an employee is no longer considered a family member within the local commuting area due to PCS or divorce of sponsor or, in the case of a child, the age of 23.
