Parents' Weekend

Parents' Weekend is held annually beginning the Thursday before Labor Day and continuing through the Labor Day weekend. Parents who attend will have an opportunity to attend classes with their cadets, tour flight simulators, watch a Cadet Wing parade and visit the Basic Cadet Training field exercise area in Jack's Valley.

Parents of freshman cadets will receive a brochure, a schedule of events and passes to Parents' Weekend about a month before the event. Any returned information packets will be sent to the cadet, who will provide the information to parents. Parents of upper-class cadets should ask their cadets to pick up information from their squadrons and provide it on arrival.

Those who have handicap placards for their vehicles should bring it with them so that they can access the handicap parking areas immediately north of the parade field.

Parents of fourth-class cadets will receive passes for base access and parking. Cadets may also pick up additional parking passes from their squadrons.

Please display your base access and parking pass prominently in your vehicle. You may also be asked to show proof of insurance, valid vehicle registration and photo ID such as a driver's license. If you are driving a rental car, keep the rental agreement and proof of insurance in the vehicle at all times.

All vehicles entering the Air Force Academy are subject to inspection and search by security personnel. Do not bring large bags, coolers, thermoses, backpacks or other items that will require additional scrutiny from security personnel, as this will slow the process of entering the base.

Guests may ride shuttle buses or walk to the cadet area but must be escorted by a cadet or military member to enter the Terrazzo or any of the academic buildings or dormitories. No privately owned vehicles are allowed into the cadet area.
