A deep, cold low pressure system will bring wintery weather to the Southern Cascades, Sierra Nevada, and Northern Coastal Range tonight and through Tuesday morning. Snow levels will fluctuate near 5000 ft, and snow amounts will range from 6 to 12� above 5500 feet, with up to 24� possible at the highest elevations. Visibilities will drop to a mile or less as breezy, occasionally gusty, winds will accompany falling snow. Carry tire chains, an extra flashlight, and food if mountain travel is necessary.
