Introduction to Metadata

The workshop will provide course material on the FGDC metadata standard - Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM) and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard. The workshop will cover information on software tools such as ArcCatalog, NOAA's MerMaid, and other freeware metadata editors and provide information about the existing metadata resource network for the creation, development and dissemination of metadata. This workshop is presented by NOAA-CDDC, hosted by Texas A & M University, and coordinated with the Texas Department of Information Resources.

This workshop is open to all state, federal, and local governments and universities who use, develop, or manage GIS programs or geospatial data development. This may include managers, supervisors, or technicians.  The workshop is designed for beginners to intermediate GIS experience, or experienced users who have not been converted to the gospel of GIS metadata documentation.
