For many teenagers, life may feel like an emotional roller coaster. But, if your teenager has diabetes, he or she may experience even more ups and downs.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers bringing you Healthy Moments from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
Many teens deal with diabetes every day, and sometimes they may struggle with feelings about the disease, and: - Wonder – why me?
- Or blame themselves, or you, for their disease..
These feelings are normal and ok to have. But teenagers should be encouraged to take action to feel better. They can for example: - Share their feelings with people that care.
- Find a support group of teens with diabetes.
- And ask for help with their diabetes care plan.
