For parents, students, and teachers, the hectic pace of back to school activities can seem challenging – even more so for students with diabetes. So how can we ease the way?
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you Healthy Moments from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
Last week, I introduced you to our updated Guide for School Personnel, called “Helping the Student with Diabetes Succeed.” The Guide provides tips for students with diabetes and includes:
- essential information for planning and managing diabetes at school.
- roles and responsibilities for school staff, parents, and students with diabetes.
- tools for diabetes management plans and the response to diabetes-related emergencies.
- and finally, an overview of schools’ responsibilities under federal laws.
For a free Guide, visit our website at NIDDK where you can hear more Healthy Moments. This is Dr. Griffin Rodgers.
