- Mathews, LA – According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the West Larose Vertical Lift Bridge on Louisiana Highway 1 crossing the Intracoastal Canal will be closed continuously to vehicular traffic from 7:00 am on Thursday, December 8, 2016 until 5:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2016.
- The Cut Off Lift Bridge will be closed to vehicle and marine traffic on December 2, 2016 from approximately 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.
- The Cut Off Lift Bridge will be closed periodically to vehicle traffic today, December 1, from 9:00 am until noon in order for workers to replace a motor.

Parish President Cantrelle and Councilman Daniel Lorraine joined Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and Visit Bayou Lafourche on Monday evening in welcoming anglers from all over the world to the Hobie kayak fishing tournament.
Anglers from all over the world will be competing this week in waters off Lafourche Parish to claim the title of 6th Hobie Fishing World Champion!

NEWS RELEASE December 5, 2016 WEST LAROSE VERTICAL LIFT BRIDGE CLOSURE Mathews, LA – According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), the West Larose Vertical Lift Bridge on Louisiana Highway 1 crossing the Intracoastal Canal will be closed continuously to vehicular traffic from 7:00 am on Thursday, December 8, 2016 until 5:00 pm on Friday, December 23, 2016. This closure is necessary for crews to install new movable traffic barrier components and machinery. This is a 24 hour a day closure. An alternate route is the new Larose Vertical Lift Bridge.
