Akron,
OH – On Saturday, at approximately 4:30 in the morning, the York Police
Department in South Carolina arrested 38 year old Antwain Price for failing to
register as a sex offender. Price was wanted by the Summit County Sheriff’s
Office and the United States Marshals Service. Price was convicted of criminal
sexual conduct with a child under the age of 12 in July of 2010. Price was
sentenced to 4 months and given credit for time already served. As part of his
sentence he was required to register as a sex offender upon his release. Price
failed to do so and fled the state. Unable to locate Price for 2 years, the
Summit County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the Northern Ohio
Violent Fugitive Task Force-Akron Division to locate Price.
During the investigation, it was discovered that
Price was relocating from state to state in order to evade capture. On Saturday,
Price’s luck finally ran out. Task force members developed information that
Price was living in York, SC and reached out to the York Police Department for
assistance in apprehending Price. York PD responded to the address provided from
the task force and located him. Price was arrested near the 100 block of Lowrey
Rowe Rd. in York, SC and is in custody awaiting extradition back to Ohio.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “This was great
investigative work by all involved. Those that prey on our children are some of
the most dangerous fugitives we pursue and we place the utmost priority on
bringing them to justice quickly.”
