Tallahassee,
FL – U.S. Marshals Service Director Stacia A. Hylton swore in Edward M.
Spooner on Thursday as the new U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Florida
at the agency’s headquarters in Washington.
Spooner, a life-long Florida resident, began his law enforcement career as an
intern with the Florida Highway Patrol in 1973. He subsequently served with the
Tallahassee Police Department, as Director of Public Safety for Quincy, Fla., on
the Florida Parole Commission, as Chief Deputy of the Gadsden County Sheriff’s
Office, and as Sheriff of Okaloosa County. He was most recently employed by the
Florida Department of Law Enforcement as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge.
