Civilian Equal Employment OpportunityAny current employee, applicant for employment, or former employee of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Defense Agencies, and the DoD Field Activities serviced by Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) has the right to participate in an employment discrimination complaint process through the Equal Employment Opportunity Programs Division (EEOPD). Individuals and class complaints of discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex (including sexual harassment), national origin, age (40 and older),physical/mental disability, and/or retaliation for engaging in protected activity will be processed in accordance with 29 Code of Federal Regulations (C.F.R.) Part 1614. The EEO complaint process is a means for employees or individuals to present allegations of employment discrimination. EEO Counseling is the initial step in the EEO process. Mediation through the agency's Collaborative Resolution Program (CRP) may be chosen as an alternative to traditional counseling. A person who believes that he/she has been discriminated against must raise the matter to the attention of EEOPD within 45 calendar days from the date of the alleged discriminatory act, or within 45 calendar days of the effective date of a personnel action alleged to be discriminatory. Employees, supervisors, or managers who have questions about the civilian EEO process should contact the EEOPD at 703-699-1805.
