Hydro-Québec and Plug'nDrive Ontario announced a joint working group to plan the roll-out of an electric vehicle (EV) public charging infrastructure between Québec and Ontario, to offer cross-border charging stations.
Hydro-Québec and Plug'nDrive Ontario believe that the rollout of a public charging infrastructure is needed to support the arrival of plug-in electric vehicles.

With the new BMW Concept Active Tourer to be showcased at the Paris Motor Show, its maker wants to put forward a vehicle which it says is the first in the premium compact segment to combine comfort and space functionality with dynamic performance and style.
Annual growth rates of up to five percent are expected in the small car and compact segment of the premium class in the years to come. For this reason, the BMW Concept Active Tourer is a key component in the ongoing development of the BMW brand and its model portfolio.
As a plug-in hybrid, the BMW Concept Active Tourer also provides a glimpse ahead to future drive variants in automobiles of the compact class. The eDrive concept familiar from the BMW i8 is used here for the first time in a model of the core BMW brand. It covers all components of the electric drive, the electric motor developed by BMW, the lithium-ion battery and the intelligent engine control unit.

With 313 diesel-sourced horsepower, the Audi SQ5 TDI is the new top model of the Q5 model series and also the first S model in the history of Audi with a diesel engine.
Added to this performance is a dash of exclusivity: a limited production vehicle from quattro GmbH, which Audi will be presenting at the Paris Motor Show as the “SQ5 TDI Audi exclusive concept.”
The performance SUV will be showcasing new design solutions in the interior and an exclusive exterior finish in a limited production run of just 50 vehicles beginning the first quarter of 2013.

Students from across the Americas can again bring their passion for energy solutions to Houston, where teams will attempt to build a vehicle that can surpass 2,188.6 miles per gallon.
The seventh annual Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2013 is now open for online registration to high school and college students from across North and South America.

Ford’s third-generation hybrid system will be using lithium-ion batteries and Ford says this will help reduce the use of rare earth metals.
Replacing nickel-metal-hydride batteries with new lighter more efficient lithium-ion batteries could reduce the company’s use of expensive, less-abundant rare earth metals by up to 500,000 pounds a year according to Ford.
