  2. Today we mourn the loss of Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Foreign Service Officer Sean Smith, and two yet to be named U.S. personnel, who were senselessly murdered in Benghazi on Tuesday. As we console their families, we can honor their legacy and sacrifice by renewing our commitment to democracy in Libya, and in all the countries of the world. http://moran.house.gov/press-release/moran-statement-attack-benghazi
  3. Today, eleven years following the tragic events of September 11th, 2001, let us pause to honor the lives lost that day, thank the brave first responders who ran into burning buildings to help the victims, and remember the resilience of our nation.

  8. Today marks the 77th Anniversary of Social Security. From its inception, Social Security has been a stable and dependable source of financial assistance for the disabled, families in which a spouse or parent dies, and retirees – those most commonly associated with the program. Today 55 million Americans rely on it for economic security each month. I will continue working to strengthen, protect, and preserve Social Security.
