On Tuesday, December 1, Deputy Secretary of State Jacob J. Lew and Ambassador Eric Goosby, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator, will mark World AIDS Day at The World Bank’s “Keeping the Promise, Investing in the Future: Linking HIV/AIDS, Food Security and Maternal and Child Health” event. Deputy Secretary Lew will deliver keynote remarks at 9:15 a.m.
At 9:45 a.m., Ambassador Goosby will participate in a panel discussion with Michel Kazatchkine, Executive Director, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria; Joy Phumaphi, former World Bank Vice President and former Minister of Health, Botswana; and Julian Schweitzer, Acting Vice President, Human Development and Director Health, Nutrition and Population, The World Bank. This panel discussion will conclude at 10:45 a.m., and it will be followed immediately by a press availability with panelists. This press availability will take place in The World Bank’s Green Room and will be on camera and on-the-record.
