Explosives Research & Development
ATF’s Explosives Technology Branch also focuses on explosives research and development. This research involves the characterization of explosives effects, behavior, and devices using all types of explosives (military, commercial, and homemade or improvised). Additionally, ATF is researching emerging technologies for the identification and detection of explosives.
Because of its research efforts, ATF is routinely called upon to help develop test protocols and experiments and make presentations on its findings. Requests for additional information on ATF’s research and development efforts can be directed to: AEPD-ERD@atf.gov.
