  System Problems and Solutions

This list of simple solutions to common user problems is based on actual feedback from CARE Distance Learning Center students. It will be updated as necessary. If you encounter problems other than those listed, please contact the POC listed below.

Problem 1: The CARE Distance Learning Center link is not visible on the CARE Homepage.

Solution: If you access the CARE Homepage at http://www.cpms.osd.mil/CARE/CARE_index.aspx and do not see the "CARE Distance Learning Center" link under "Products and Services," it may be because you need to clear your cache of previously viewed web pages. If you use Internet Explorer as your web browser, first open Internet Explorer, then click on "Tools," then "Internet Options." In the "Temporary Internet Files" portion of the window that appears, click the "Delete" button to delete your temporary Internet files. Then close Internet Explorer. Next, re-open Internet Explorer and access the CARE Homepage once again. The "CARE Distance Learning Center" link should now be visible. If you use a web browser other than Internet Explorer and need assistance in clearing the cache on your computer, please contact your systems administrator.

Problem 2: Student cannot proceed beyond the Student Information Form.

Solution: If you begin taking the course and cannot submit the Student Information Form, it may be because your system is blocking cookies. A cookie is a small text file created by an Internet site to store information on your computer. The CARE Distance Learning Center uses cookies to identify you and to build your student file. After checking with your systems administrator to ensure that you are allowed to accept cookies, follow this procedure: If you use Internet Explorer as your web browser, first open Internet Explorer, then click on "Tools, " then "Internet Options." Click on the "Privacy" tab, and move the slider to "Medium." Then close Internet Explorer. Next, re-open Internet Explorer and access the CARE Homepage once again and start the course. Your system should now allow you to submit the Student Information Form and proceed with taking the course. If you use a web browser other than Internet Explorer and need assistance in setting your system up to accept cookies, please contact your systems administrator.

Problem 3: Student deleted the system cookies and exited while taking the course. Upon returning to the course, the student has to start over at the beginning of the course.

Solution: Do not delete your cookies before you have completed the entire course. The CARE Distance Learning Center uses cookies to "mark your place" when you exit the course.
