Highway Jobs

On April 30, 2008,  the House passed the final version of the Highway Jobs bill, H.R. 1195. The bill was signed into law on June 6, 2008.

The bill allows the completion of critical highway and transit projects outlined in the 2005 highway bill, helping create 40,000 new, good-paying American jobs in transportation and construction.  Investing in our nation’s roads, highways, and bridges is one of the best ways to stimulate our weakening economy.  At a time when we are losing tens of thousands of jobs a month and our nation is on the brink of recession, the Congress is doing everything possible to strengthen the economy and give more hard-working American families the security of a good job.
