Present data on the number of persons in the United States who were under parole supervision at yearend 2006. Data were collected through the Annual Parole Survey, which began in 1980. State-level counts of parolees supervised in the community on January 1 and December 31, 2006, supervision rates at yearend 2006, the percentage change in each population during the year, and the number of entries onto and exits from parole during 2006 are included in the tables. The tables also include State-level counts of parolees by gender, race, type of offense, sentence length, type of entries and exits and other characteristics.
