NIT440, Introduction to Malware Analysis (IMA)
Course Description:
The IMA course consists of lecture and practical exercises designed to teach basic to intermediate
techniques used in performing malware (also known as malicious code) analysis in support of
investigations. Malware analysis is used to assess files, programs, and/or scripts to discover
functionality, identify the artifacts associated with its presence and usage, commonly found on
compromised systems during network intrusion investigations. The analytical reports resulting
from static and dynamic (behavioral) analysis of Malware can then be used to help develop a
mitigation strategy for Malware on DoD networks.
