ENERGY STAR is the national symbol of energy efficiency recognized by most Americans.
Manufacturing plants that demonstrate energy performance within the top twenty-five percent of their industry as measured by an ENERGY STAR plant energy performance indicator (EPI) may be eligible to earn ENERGY STAR certification. Twelve months of verified actual energy performance data are required.
ENERGY STAR certification builds support for energy initiatives and sustains momentum for corporate energy programs. Eleven types of manufacturing plants are now eligible to earn ENERGY STAR certification:
Certified plants receive a decal, a template for creating flags and banners bearing the ENERGY STAR, and a certificate of achievement. The certification is for a period of one year.
