Dynamics of Economic Well-Being: Fluctuations in the U.S. Income Distribution: 2004-2007 — This report follows the movement of U.S. households up and down the income ladder over a 48-month period. The statistics come from the Survey of Income and Program Participation. (Schedule for release in late March/early April.)

Educational Attainment in the United States: 2010 — Who is more likely to have earned a college degree — men or women? How many of us who begin work toward a degree actually earn one? Tables from the Current Population Survey present national data on the highest level of education achieved, showing, for the first time, exactly how many years of education adults have at each broad level of attainment, making it possible to determine exactly how close people came to graduating. Data are shown by a wide range of demographic and socioeconomic characteristics. Included as well are historical tables on mean earnings by level of attainment. (Scheduled for release in April.)

Fertility of American Women: 2010 — Profiles fertility patterns of American women by age, race, ethnicity, education, marital status, income and nativity. (Scheduled for release in April.)

Economic

Quarterly Financial Report (QFR): Fourth Quarter 2010 — The QFR survey has expanded its coverage to include data for corporations in selected service industries and will release these new data for the first time on March 28 at 10 a.m. The expanded coverage includes all industry groups in the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) information sector (NAICS 51) and all industry groups in the professional, scientific and technical services sector (NAICS 54), excluding legal services. The new service sector data will be released as part of the QFR's quarterly publication of financial data for corporations in the manufacturing, mining and trade sectors, which will be renamed the Quarterly Financial Report for manufacturing, mining, trade and selected service industries.

2010 4th Quarter Summary of State and Local Government Tax Revenue — This summary shows quarterly tax revenue data on property, sales, licenses, income and other taxes. Data are shown for individual state governments as well as national-level estimates of total state and local taxes, including 12-month calculations. This quarterly survey has been conducted continuously since 1962. (Scheduled for release in March.)

Finances of Selected State and Local Government Employee Retirement Systems: 4th Quarter 2010 — This quarterly survey provides national summary data on the revenues, expenditures and composition of assets of the 100 largest state and local public employee retirement systems in the United States. This survey presents the most current data about investment decisions by state and local public employee retirement systems, which are among the largest types of institutional investors in the U.S. financial markets. (Scheduled for release in March.)

Survey of Business Owners: Native Hawaiian- and Other Pacific Islander-Owned Businesses: 2007 — This release will be highlighted at a Web news conference April 5 at 2 p.m. EDT. The event will consist of a simultaneous audio conference and webinar. Data sets show the number of privately owned firms, sales and receipts, number of paid employees and annual payroll of Native Hawaiian- and Other Pacific Islander-Owned Businesses. For the first time since 2002, counties and metropolitan areas and cities can see profiles of Native Hawaiian- and Other Pacific Islander-owned businesses in their area. (Scheduled for release April 5.)

2009 State and Local Government Employee Retirement Systems — Provides an annual look at the financial activity of the nation's state and local public employee retirement systems, including cash and security investment holdings, receipts and payments. (State data scheduled for release in April. State and Local to be released forthcoming.)

Economic Indicators — The Census Bureau releases statistics that provide monthly, quarterly and yearly updates on key measures of the nation's economic condition. Upcoming releases in March include monthly wholesale trade: sales and inventories, U.S. international trade in goods and services and advance monthly sales for retail and food services. Facts for Features

Cinco de Mayo — “The Fifth of May,” a national holiday in Mexico, has become a time to celebrate Mexican heritage and culture. (Scheduled for release in March.)

2011 Hurricane Season — The north Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1 and lasts through November. The Census Bureau produces timely local data that are critical to emergency planning, preparedness and recovery efforts. This edition of Facts for Features highlights the number of people living in areas that could be most affected by these dramatic acts of nature. (Scheduled for release in April.)

Father's Day — The Census Bureau honors “dear old dad” with a collection of statistical information from its demographic and economic subject areas pertaining to Father's Day, from stay-at-home dads to time spent with their children. (Scheduled for release in mid-April.)

2010 Census

2010 Census Local-Level Data — Another 2010 Census milestone was achieved this week with the release of the last state redistricting files. Each state now has local-level 2010 Census data on race, Hispanic origin, the voting age population and housing units. As required by law, the Census Bureau provided these key demographic data to the states (on a state-by-state flow basis) so state governments can redraw the boundaries of their congressional and state legislative districts. 2010 Census Interactive Maps — As the 2010 Census redistricting files were issued, the Census Bureau also released interactive state maps showing county-level population change from 1960 to 2010, as well as state-level data on race and Hispanic or Latino origin for 2010. <http://2010.census.gov/2010census/>.

2010 Census Reference Maps — These county-based reference maps show the boundaries and names of geographic areas for which the Census Bureau tabulates 2010 Census data. Separate maps are provided for census tracts, blocks, state legislative districts/voting districts, and school districts. For each of these maps, the boundaries and names of other geographic entities are displayed as well, including American Indian and Alaska Native areas, Hawaiian home lands, states, counties, county subdivisions and places. 2010 Census Briefs on Population Distribution and Race and Ethnicity — March 24 — Population Distribution and Change: 2000 to 2010 and Overview of Race and Hispanic Origin: 2010 are the first in a series of 2010 Census briefs. The first looks at the population distribution of the nation and change in population since 2000. The second brief, Overview of Race and Hispanic Origin: 2010, looks at our nation's changing racial and ethnic diversity and provides a snapshot of the racial and Hispanic origin composition of the United States.

Dynamics of Economic Well-Being: Poverty, 2004-2006 — March 16 — Analytical report on the duration of poverty spells and the frequency of transitions into and out of poverty based on the Survey of Income and Program Participation. It focuses on episodic and chronic poverty, length of poverty, exits from poverty and the characteristics of the affected population. State Government Tax Collections: 2010 — March 23 — This survey provides an annual summary of taxes collected by state for up to 25 categories, such as property tax, sales and gross receipts taxes, license taxes, income taxes and others. 2009 Business Dynamics Statistics (BDS) — March 23 — At the height of the 2008-2009 recession, the economy saw historically large declines in job creation from startup and existing firms. This Census Bureau brief highlights the most recent update to the BDS, showing the difference between job creation and destruction in the U.S. during the most recent recession. It also provides some historical analysis, noting for example, a downward trend over the last few decades in job creation and destruction. Special Edition: 2010 Center of Population — March 24 — The U.S. mean center of population, as of April 1, 2010, is near Plato, Mo., an incorporated village in Texas County. The U.S. Census Bureau calculated this point as the place where an imaginary, flat, weightless and rigid map of the United States would balance perfectly if all 308,745,538 residents counted in the 2010 Census were of identical weight.
