What are Gift and Travel Filings?
In accordance with House Rule 25 of the 112th Congress, Members, officers, and staff
must file reports which detail travel-related expenses reimbursed by non-government
sources and charitable contributions made in lieu of honoraria (a payment for services
that do not have a set fee).
Section 304 of the Honest Leadership and Open Government Act of 2007 requires the
Office of the Clerk to make travel disclosure reports received on or after January
1, 2008 available to the public on the internet.
The name of the applicable employing office(s), the name of the sponsor who paid
for all travel expenses, the name of each city traveled to, and the date the report
was received can be found on the website. Users may search the website by employing
office, sponsor, destination, or submission date and can sort their search results
by name, employing office, and dates of restriction.
