SPEA strongly encourages students who have successfully completed volunteer service with AmeriCorps to apply. Alumni of the AmeriCorps program qualify for a waiver of 3 credit hours per year of service with a maximum award of 6 credit hours (a $2400 benefit per year of service, depending on residency). AmeriCorps alumni also satisfy the experiential requirement of the SPEA MPA and MSES degrees.

The School of Public and Environmental Affairs (SPEA) houses the #2 ranked Master of Public Affairs (MPA) program in the country, as well as the top-ranked concentration in Nonprofit Management and the only defined Sustainable Development concentration within an MPA program. SPEA has a strong community of returned volunteers, as we highly value your commitment to service. Additionally, SPEA has a unique assistantship opportunity called Service Corps which enables our students to continue their work in the nonprofit or public community in our area while receiving partial tuition remission and a graduate stipend for their service.
