Reports, Research, and Literature iconNCI has produced and collaborated on several reports that address the special challenges facing adolescents and young adults with cancer. NCI partnered with the Lance Armstrong Foundation to conduct a Progress Review Group to address the research and cancer care needs of patients in this age group. Recommendations for a national agenda to improve cancer prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes among this age group were made.   • Closing the Gap: Research and Care Imperatives for Adolescents and Young Adults with Cancer
    This comprehensive report from the Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Progress Review Group (PRG) is a collaborative effort between NCI and the Lance Armstrong Foundation. It outlines recommendations for improving the outcomes for adolescents and young adults with cancer.
  • Closing the Gap: A Strategic Plan
    This action plan includes recommendations for improving the outcomes and quality of life for adolescents and young adults with cancer and was created by the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance (LSYAA) and NCI.
  • Living Beyond Cancer: Finding a New Balance
    This report from the President's Cancer Panel describes cancer survivorship issues using a life span approach. Issues common to all survivors are identified as well as challenges specific to those diagnosed as children (ages 0-14 years), adolescents and young adults (ages 15-29 years), adults (30-59 years of age), and older adults (ages 60 and older).

  • Journal of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology
    This is the first cancer journal dedicated to the adolescent and young adult-aged oncology patient population. It includes peer-reviewed articles and reviews that cover research in this area of oncology.
  • Cancer Literature in PubMed
    PubMed, a service of the National Library of Medicine, provides access to over 12 million MEDLINE literature citations dating back to the mid-1960s. PubMed also includes links to many full-text articles at journal Web sites as well as links to related Web resources.

    A collection of resources for cancer patients, health care providers, and the public, provided by the National Cancer Institute and certain partner organizations.

    MedlinePlus will direct you to information to help answer health questions. MedlinePlus brings together authoritative information from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and other government agencies and health-related organizations.
