Latest Annual Wholesale Trade Report

Notice of Correction: Estimates of sales and gross margins for 2003 through 2006 and operating expenses for 2006 were revised on March 23, 2012 to correct an error in the estimates originally released on February 29, 2012. This revision affected the following industry levels: (1) NAICS 42, U.S. Merchant Wholesalers; (2) NAICS 424, Nondurable Goods; and (3) NAICS 4245, Farm Product Raw Materials.

As a result of this update, the 2006 sales estimates of U.S. Merchant Wholesalers were revised down 0.5%; 2006 sales estimates of U.S. Merchant Wholesalers, Except MSBOs were revised down 0.7%; 2006 gross margins estimates for U.S. Merchant Wholesalers, except MSBOs were revised down 3.4%; and 2006 operating expenses estimates for U.S. Merchant Wholesalers were revised downward less than 0.1%. Estimates for 2003 through 2005 for all affected data items were revised downward by less than 0.1%. The corresponding sampling variability tables for 2006 were also updated.
