Pacifica Graduate Institute has established an educational environment that nourishes respect for cultural diversity and individual differences, and an academic community that fosters a spirit of free and open inquiry. At its core, Pacifica is firmly rooted in its vision: animae mundi colendae gratia (for the sake of tending the soul of the world). In honor of that vision, we are pleased to offer a dollar for dollar matching grant to post-service AmeriCorps members who are accepted into our M.A. in Engaged Humanities or the M.A. /Ph.D. in Depth Psychology degree programs.
The M.A. in Engaged Humanities offers a blend of online/low-residency learning in an interdisciplinary program that incorporates insights from multiple disciplines such as philosophy, depth psychology, poetry, mythology, theology, and technology. Students learn to embody leadership in service of environmental stewardship, sustainability, and philanthropy, as well as decision-making and conflict resolution approaches to serve personal, professional, community, and global concerns. AmeriCorps Alumni will have the opportunity to discuss, analyze and explore their experiences during their process and praxis courses, and at greater length, if they so wish, during their final project.

The connection between community service and personal growth that is central to the AmeriCorps experience, is also central to Pacifica’s M.A./PhD. in Depth Psychology. This program focuses on the application of depth psychology at the levels of culture and community. It extends this rich theoretical tradition beyond the personal clinical setting into the wider world in which we live. Through the study of depth and liberation psychologies, participatory fieldwork and research, and methods of dialogue and engaged imagination, students prepare for and practice innovative work that fosters individual, community, and environmental well-being in a variety of settings.
