Rep. Keating Statement: Violence in Libya and the Death of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and Three American Public Servants

by U.S. Representative Bill Keating on Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at 10:21am ·

I am deeply saddened to learn of the untimely deaths of Ambassador Stephens and three dedicated public servants in Libya. I join the President and Secretary Clinton in condemning this unnecessary violence. This is a volatile and fragile time – both internally within Libya and its neighbors, and between the United States and the region. We now look to Libyan President Mohammed Magarief to condemn this senseless violence and lead Libya toward a peaceful reconciliation so that the work of these four public servants to promote a strong and democratic Libya continues on into the future. My thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragedy.
