Lt. Gen. Todd Semonite, USACE Commanding General and 54th U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, shares his thoughts on the 241st Army Birthday.

US Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Summer externs stopped by AGC today to receive briefings on the work we do here and in our partner lab. Hopefully we inspired them to pursue a career in geographic information systems and mapping!

Corps Team,
It has been an honor and great privilege to serve as the 53rd Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the US Army Corps of Engineers for the past four years.

Mr. Robert Burkhardt, former Army Geospatial Center director and the Army's first Geospatial Information officer was awarded the U. S. Army Engineer Association's prestigious 2016 Gold de Fleury medal for contributions that “exemplify boldness, courage and commitment to a strong national defense,” says the association that represents the service's active-duty and retired engineers.

As the highest honor given by the regiment, the Gold de Fleury medal is named after François ...de Fleury, a French engineer who served the Continental Army during the American Revolution, and who displayed valiant courage in the battle of Stony Point in 1779. On October 1,1779, de Fleury stood before the Continental Congress and received praise by the men who had penned the Declaration of Independence and who would later sign the Constitution. For his fearless actions, the Continental Congress ordered that a medal be struck in his honor. It is understood that the de Fleury Medal was the first Congressional Medal struck, if not the first medal authorized.

Burkhardt retired in early 2011 after a distinguished 35-year federal and military career. He was instrumental in promulgating the Army Geospatial Enterprise and distinguished himself through exemplary direction of the Army’s development and fielding of geospatial enterprise-enabled systems and technology programs for Soldiers and facilitating future battlefield network-centric operations.

In a quarterly award ceremony today, AGC Director, Dr. Joseph Fontanella recognized several employees for their service, dedication and professionalism, mostly notably, Mr. Frederick Gloeckler, who was recognized for his 50 years of federal service. Mr. Gloeckler is an electronics engineer who began his career with the Army back in 1966 at the [then] Geodesy, Intelligence and Mapping Research and Development Agency - which after several naming iterations is currently the Army Geospatial Center. In addition to the awards and recognitions, Dr. Fontanella hailed several new employees and farewelled two heading off to retirement. Congrats to all!

Often when it is time to mark a holiday or a national week, I ask members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to take a moment to reflect on that observance.
However, National Engineers Week, Feb. 21-27, is a time for action, not just reflection. It’s our opportunity to show how “Engineers Make a World of Difference.”
The Corps of Engineers has been engineering solutions to our Nation’s greatest challenges since 1775. Our legacy includes design and construction of iconic American projects, improving inland navigation and opening the American west with explorers, surveyors, and map-makers. The Sc...

The Inland Electronic Navigational Chart (IENC) program has achieved a 5,000,000 download landmark since its beginning presence on Amazon's cloud site. The IENC program serves the IENC product and buoy data (figures delivered by the United States Coast Guard) as part of a Federal Geographic Data Committee(FGDC) pilot project, beginning in December of 2012. Since the conclusion of the project the IENC has transferred its cloud usage to a larger DoD contract, but remains to ser...ve its data to the nation’s waterway community.
“The milestone reminds us just how important this database is,” said Dr. Robert Mann, Project manager for the IENC program at the Army Geospatial Center. He also says that “Mariners use our data 24/7/365; it keeps them safe.” The IENC data allows end users to receive data updates via an RSS feed and in 3 different formats: Arcmap, WMS (Web Map Services), KML and soon GeoPDF.

  • The bible contains and consists of unbelievably complex code materia...l that cannot be studied or understood by created beings but can only be revealed by God when we humble ourselves and ask Him to teach us! Example, Jesus said I am the light of the world and Paul taught that everything that exists consists of and is made up of Christ. One of the hottest topics in theoretical physics today is the fabric of reality or of the universe/ multiverse. Slow your mind for a moment and meditate on these words and see this: I am Pause the light Pause Everything Pause that exists Pause is made up of Me! Christ is the perfect manifestation of light- Science has discovered that light is alive and thinks!- This light/ Christ is the fabric of all reality/ realities- This thinking light is the living fabric of time and space. This is why everything is energy and everything is connected. Every visible thing is a slowed down manifestation of this light that forms a fabric that is made up of what some call ley lines. This is what the bible calls the highway of holiness or the highway of the heavens where its strands are thick to mesh the fabric of slow space and time or the space/ time continuum together.
