specific nav links Home News ACHP Publishes New Guidance ACHP Publishes New GuidanceThe ACHP prepared this guidance to advise federal decision makers regarding the requirements of Section 2(g) of Executive Order 13514: Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance. That section of the Sustainability Order charges federal agencies to, “Implement high performance sustainable federal building design, construction, operation and management, maintenance, and deconstruction including by…[among other considerations] ensuring that rehabilitation of federally owned historic buildings utilizes best practices and technologies in retrofitting to promote long-term viability of the buildings” This guidance was prepared by a work group comprising staff representatives of the ACHP, Department of Defense, Department of the Interior, Department of Veterans Affairs, and General Services Administration. Special thanks for the contribution of staff representing the Technical Preservation Services of the National Park Service, who provided expertise in the application of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and other best practices and technologies for rehabilitating federal historic buildings.
