Lunenburg Man Pleads Guilty to Felon in Possession of a Firearm in Shooting up Wall at the Gilman Water Treatment Plant
The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Vermont stated today that Craig Lindvall, 25, of Lunenburg Vermont, pled guilty in U.S. District Court in Rutland, Vermont to felon-in-possession of a firearm. His sentencing is scheduled for January 3, 2013 in Rutland before Chief Judge Christina Reiss. The maximum penalty for this offense is ten years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine.
According to court records, Lindvall was prohibited from possessing firearms because he was previously convicted of a felony offense, that is Aggravated Domestic Assault in the First Degree on February 8, 2010 in Vermont Superior Court (Essex Criminal Division). Lindvall admitted that in July 2011 he removed an AWI Feather Industries 9mm rifle from a locked bedroom at his residence, where he lives with his mother and step-father. He used the gun to target shoot behind his residence with two friends. Later Lindvall and the two friends went to the Gilman water treatment plant and shot rounds into the brick wall of the facility.
This case was investigated jointly by the ATF and the Essex County Sheriff's Department. The Essex County State's Attorney's Office also provided assistance. The United States is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph Perella and Lindvall is represented by John-Claude Charboneau.
