Chris met with members of the ArtStream Inclusive Theater Companies to discuss the importance of creating artistic opportunities for individuals in communities traditionally underserved by the arts. Inclusive Theatre Companies are designed for adults (18+) with intellectual disabilities, learning disabilities and adults who are on the Autism Spectrum. To view a photo of the meeting, click here. Chris, in cooperation with mental health and addiction treatment advocates, hosted a Congressional Forum in Chevy Chase, MD that focused on the implementation and enforcement of the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008. Local citizens, government officials, and experts in mental health and addiction discussed how the law is affecting individuals’ access to non-discriminatory mental health and addiction treatment benefits. Chris met with Ziyao Wang, a graduating senior at Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, to congratulate her on her nomination as a finalist to the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. She was one of just 141 students from across the country named as Presidential Scholars - one of the nation's highest honors for high school students.
