Synopsis: E65219X - National Engineers Week Foundation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) intends to support and participate in the National Engineering Week 2011 activities from February 20-26, 2011, on a sole source basis.

Founded as “National Engineers Week” in 1951 by the National Society of Professional engineers (NSPE), it is among the oldest of America’s professional outreach efforts.

By supporting this Engineers week activity, the NSF will gain access to the following programs, which are uniquely suited to advancing many of the NSF's Engineering Directorate's goals. Specifically, participation in Engineer’s Week affords NSF the ability to participate in the following activities among others:  National Engineers Week Foundation Diversity Council, Discover Engineering, Family Event, National Engineers Week Future City Competition, and Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day.

Under this order, NSF will be able to participate in the workshop activities for the week.  The funding will cover the costs of space rental, registration scholarships, safety enhancements, and production and distribution costs for outreach materials.

As a sponsor, NSF can reach out to a large number of participants at a fraction of the cost of holding its own event.

The proposed contract action is for services for which the government intends to sponsor with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106.  This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals.   This synopsis is for information purposes only.  See Numbered Note 22 (changing 45 days to 5 days).
