MINOT, N.D. – After 27 months, the FEMA temporary housing mission in the Souris Valley came to a close yesterday. In the aftermath of the 2011 Souris River flooding, FEMA brought in more than 2,000 manufactured homes to address the severe housing shortage in the region. In the past month, the final few remaining households have been securing permanent housing.
MINOT, N.D. – In the two years since historic flooding struck the Souris Valley in North Dakota, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has provided more than $185 million in assistance to help the region recover. This is funding that has gone directly to residents or local communities to restore homes or damaged public infrastructure, as well as enact measures that will lessen the impact of future disasters.
MINOT, N.D. - Just one month into 2013, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that the number of temporary housing units (THU) still occupied in Ward County has fallen to 476. The drop is another sign that recovery efforts continue, even in the chilly winter months.
