Vehicle Technologies Program Publishes Annual Merit Review Presentations

The Vehicle Technologies Program recently posted the presentations from its 2012 Annual Merit Review and Peer Evaluation Meeting, held from May 14-18. Nearly 350 expert reviewers judged more than 560 individual activities that DOE funded in the last year. The expert reviewers come from a variety of backgrounds, including current and former members of the vehicles industry, academia, and government.

Each year, the Annual Merit Review provides a forum for evaluation and discussion of the Vehicle Technologies Program's projects. Reviewers evaluate the projects' contributions to the program's mission and goals and take into account the breadth, depth, appropriateness, accomplishments, and potential of these activities. Based on these criteria, reviewers provide numeric scores and meaningful comments to create a comprehensive project report card. The recommendations from the reviewers are taken into consideration by DOE in generating future work plans. Summaries of the comments will appear in an annual progress report, which will be published this fall. The 2011 report is posted under Annual Progress Reports.

The Vehicle Technologies Program Annual Merit Review is held jointly with the Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Program Merit Review, which has also posted project presentations on its website. The 2013 Annual Merit Review is scheduled for May 13-17.
