COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The Federal Emergency Management Agency Public Assistance program has obligated $1 million to the state of Missouri for reimbursements of disaster related expenses and damage in local communities caused by flooding in Northwest Missouri between June 1 through Aug. 1, 2011.  The Public Assistance program provides grants to reimburse for seven categories that may be eligible for assistance under the Public Assistance program including:

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Residents of Andrew, Atchison, Buchanan, Holt, Lafayette and Platte counties have one week left to register for federal disaster aid, recovery officials announced Monday. The deadline for survivors of the summer flooding in northwest Missouri to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency is Monday, Dec. 12, 2011. To date, 850 flood survivors have registered for flood assistance from FEMA, and more than $8 million in federal grants and loans has been approved to help eligible registrants.

Public Assistance - Dollars Approved

Public Assistance (PA): Disaster grant assistance available for communities to quickly respond to and recover from major disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Emergency Work (Categories A-B): Work that must be performed to reduce or eliminate an immediate threat to life, protect public health and safety, and to protect improved property that is significantly threatened due to disasters or emergencies declared by the President

Permanent Work (Categories C-G): Work that is required to restore a damaged facility, through repair or restoration, to its pre-disaster design, function, and capacity in accordance with applicable codes and standards

*Dollars Approved: Assistance dollars approved but not necessarily disbursed.

*Dollars Obligated: Funds made available to the State via electronic transfer following FEMA's final review and approval of Public Assistance projects.
