August 29, 2006 - News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- To date more than $18 million in disaster assistance grants and loans have been approved, according to federal and state recovery officials. Nearly 12,000 residents have applied for disaster assistance in CUYAHOGA, ERIE, HURON, LUCAS, SANDUSKY, AND STARK counties in northeast Ohio. The following is an update of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Ohio Emergency Management Agency (Ohio EMA) recovery activities as of close of business Wednesday, August 23.

August 24, 2006 - News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Only one week remains for residents and business owners in the disaster-declared counties who sustained damage from the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding that occurred between June 21 and June 23 to apply for disaster assistance. The deadline to call and apply for disaster assistance is August 31. The eligible counties are Cuyahoga, Erie, Huron, Lucas, Sandusky, and Stark.

August 17, 2006 - News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Residents and businesses in CUYAHOGA, ERIE, HURON, LUCAS, SANDUSKY, AND STARK counties have only two more weeks to apply for federal and state disaster assistance to help them recover from damages resulting from the severe storms, tornadoes, straight line winds, and flooding from June 21-23. "We will continue to process existing assistance applications, but the deadline to apply is Thursday, August 31, " Jesse Munoz the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) federal coordinating officer, said.

Individual Assistance - Dollars Approved

Individuals & Household Program (IHP): Provides money and services to people in Presidentially declared disaster areas.

Housing Assistance (HA): Provides assistance for disaster-related housing needs.

Other Needs Assistance (ONA): Provides assistance for other disaster-related needs, such as furnishings, transportation, and medical.
