    • Another point I want to bring up about Andrew L'Amour's video. Although the last budget at the end of Clinton's was indeed in the black, the Clinton Adminstration added over a Trillion dollars to the National Debt. He didn't use the suplus he had to pay down the Debt. The estimated Suplus was estimated on the housing bubble which policies Clinton passed allowed to happen. We basically had a false economy as we did in the years prior to 1929. We had a lot of prosperity on paper, but not much real value. It collapsed with the bank bailout in 2008. The slowness in the economy is a result of 2 decades of "False Ballooned" econonmy. You could pass the blame to Clinton for the housing policies of the 90s or Bush for maintaining those policies or the banks for making a fistful of money during that time. So from Clinton to Obama plenty of blame to go around.

    • So I've been busy the last few days so a few thoughts about the outcome from yesterdays election. First the last guy in office is still the same guy in office. The people of this country both in the popular and the electoral college have spoken loud and clear. Romney is not who we collectively as a nation want in the White house. Now the House and Senate remains largely unchanged so we find ourselves in basically the same place we have been in the last few years. The only way we as a nation can overcome the issues that divides us is to do the one thing we all do on a daily basis which is this. Find the middle ground and keep moving forward. To that end it is up to us to impress upon those we have hired to represent us that politics have no place in grinding us to a halt. To force those in the house, senate and the white house to work together and move this nation forward. None of us would last long in our workplace if we went to the boss and told them we could not or would not work with someone because we couldn't agree. All of us would be on the street pretty quick if we were to do that. We the people have the power to change this nation not the politicians. They are just the tools at our disposal to effect the change WE the PEOPLE want to change. At this point pointing fingers and blaming others is not the answer. All it does is stop us from moving forward. What we forget as a people is they WORK for us. It is our responsibility to dictate the policies and direction this country needs to move in. Remember if we collectively do nothing and ask nothing of those in our employ then we are more at fault than those we have hired to represent us. It is up to us to communicate our wishes and direction to D.C. Not the other way around.

    • With this second term in office will you be doing more to address the concerns of all South Dakota citizens? I am concerned with the information provided during the campaing that you only attended 5 out of 22 Indian Affairs Commitee meetings. Stating that you will not attend a meeting just to attend a meeting is not an answer. How can you vote on issues that are important to us if you don't attend, listen, and participate in the conversations that discuss those issues? Why did you choose to be on the committee if you didn't want to attend the meeting and listen to the real true concerns of Indian Country? Please don't throw our thoughts and concerns under the bus. We are human beings with families. We love our children and want the best for them just as any other South Dakotans. We love our sisters and care for their safety just as any other South Dakotan. Will you listen to our voice and hear that we want better for ourselves, our families, and our communities? Will you help us to start making a difference for those we love? Will you work for us rather than against the President? Please don't ignore my voice because I am a South Dakotan, one whom you work for.

  15. George McGovern was a South Dakota institution. He has inspired countless Americans to get involved in the political process and will be remembered for his passionate commitment to South Dakota and to the hungry of the world. On a personal note, Senator McGovern was always unfailingly kind to me. His presence will be missed in South Dakota. Bryon and I send our thoughts and prayers to the McGovern family and to all of the senator's friends and loved ones during this difficult time.
