NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- National flood insurance experts with the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), will be reaching out to residents who sustained damage from the November Nor’easter / the remnants of Tropical Depression Ida. A door-to-door campaign to inform residents about the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will occur Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in one of Norfolk’s hardest hit areas.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Federal and Commonwealth emergency response officials are teaming up with Home Depot to provide information on rebuilding stronger after the flooding caused by the November nor’easter / remnants of Tropical Depression Ida.
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Residents of Virginia who sustained flooding damages from the November nor’easter / the remnants of Tropical Depression Ida and who had insurance policies backed by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) have an additional 15 days to file their proofs of loss. This extension is being granted in recognition of the difficulties that NFIP policy holders may have encountered while trying to schedule meetings with adjusters and contractors during the Holiday Season.
